We Survived the Holocaust: The Bluma and Felix Goldberg Story

I collaborated with Frank W. Baker (lead writer) and John Shableski (developmental editor) as the co-plotter/co-scripter and artist on the We Survived the Holocaust: The Bluma and Felix Goldberg Story graphic novel originally published by Imagine and Wonder. Publishers Weekly called it a “powerfully moving nonfiction graphic novel” and also says, “This affecting work, which interweaves WWII historical facts among the family’s personal history, is vital reading.” Additionally, Kirkus Reviews weighed in, calling the book “moving and important.” We were also favorably reviewed by the Jewish Book Council.

We Survived the Holocaust was named to the American Library Association’s YALSA 2024 Great Graphic Novels for Teens list and was also a Silver Finalist for Pop Culture Classroom’s Excellence in Graphic Literature Award. The book was also a Finalist in the Jewish Comics Experience (JEWCE) Awards in both the Autobiographical and Biographical Content and Historic Narrative categories. The illustration work has been recognized in American Illustration 42, Creative Quarterly 69, and Phillustration 2022 as well.
